Top Ten Finish! Radnor House Debaters Excel in One of the Region’s Largest Competitions

Radnor House Sevenoaks was delighted to participate in the prestigious South Hampstead Winter Debating Competition on Saturday 29 November, an event that drew together more than 150 teams from schools across the region. This highly regarded tournament offers students an invaluable opportunity to engage in rigorous intellectual dialogue, sharpen their critical reasoning skills and practise articulating well-structured arguments under competitive conditions.

Representing Radnor House, four teams of dedicated and enthusiastic debaters took to the floor, demonstrating both academic ambition and a thoughtful engagement with the complex motions presented throughout the day.

We are especially proud of Hanna and Caspar (Year 10), who delivered an exceptional performance, placing in the top ten and earning a well-deserved spot in the Silver Final. Achieving this level of success in such a large and academically demanding competition is a significant accomplishment. Their success reflects not only personal talent and commitment, but also the strength of Radnor House’s debating culture, which fosters analytical thinking, confident communication, and collaborative intellectual inquiry.

The event was an inspiring celebration of student voice, scholarly curiosity and disciplined reasoning. All eight of our participating debaters represented the school with maturity, poise, and integrity, engaging with challenging topics and responding thoughtfully to opposing arguments.

We extend our congratulations to every student involved and look forward to building on this momentum as we continue to nurture academic excellence and oracy across Radnor House Sevenoaks.
