Radnor House Athletes Shine on the National Stage

It’s been an action-packed and successful few weeks for our athletics stars at Radnor House Sevenoaks, with students travelling to Birmingham’s prestigious Alexander Stadium for two national championships — the ISA National Athletics Championships and the IPS National Athletics Championships.

ISA National Championships (Independent Schools Association)

Following fantastic performances at the ISA London South Championships earlier this term, a squad of our top athletes made the long journey north to represent Radnor on the national stage. Under blazing sunshine and against tough competition, our students showed incredible grit and determination.

Highlights from the day include two bronze medals:

Lauren C (U12 75m Hurdles): A brilliant late surge and perfectly timed dip at the line secured her a well-deserved spot on the podium.

Lucy P (U12 Shot Putt): Faced with some powerful rivals, Lucy held her nerve to land two fantastic throws for Radnor’s second medal of the day.

Other outstanding performances included:

Charlie W – 4th place in U12 High Jump

Luca C – A stunning 6-second personal best in the 1500m, finishing 4th

Ethan B – Fought through a crowded field in the 800m to finish a strong 5th

IPS National Championships (Independent Prep Schools)

The excellence continued with two of our senior athletes competing at the IPS Nationals, once again at Alexander Stadium.  Hannah H raced in the U14 75m Hurdles and secured 7th place in the country - an outstanding achievement.

Ted V competed in the U14 800m and clocked 2:17.3, finishing 5th in a very competitive field and nearly matching his personal best despite intense heat.  Our athletics programme continues to go from strength to strength, and this season's results reflect not only the talent and hard work of our athletes, but also the dedication of our PE team, especially Mr Green, Mrs Blackman, and the wider department.

Well done to every athlete who competed – our students represented Radnor House with pride, determination, and sportsmanship. Their efforts throughout the season have been commendable and anticipation is already building for the achievements to come next season.
