Radnor celebrate stellar GCSE Results and third conseutive year of growth

Students and staff at Radnor House Sevenoaks are celebrating another excellent set of GCSE results, marking the third consecutive year of academic growth for the school.

This year, 85% of GCSE grades were awarded at grades 9–5, an increase of five percentage points on last year, while 62% were awarded at grades 9–6 and 38% at the highest grades of 9–7.

Alongside the headline results, provisional value-added data provides an important measure of the progress pupils have made during their time at Radnor. The school has achieved a value-added score of +0.8, indicating that, on average, pupils achieved almost one GCSE grade higher per subject than students nationally with comparable starting points.

Across a typical programme of GCSE subjects, this can equate to approximately seven or eight additional grade points per pupil - demonstrating the significant academic progress students make at Radnor.

The results reflect not only individual excellence and perseverance, but the school's commitment to an ambitious and well-rounded education in which pupils are encouraged to achieve academically while developing the skills, confidence and character that will prepare them for Sixth Form, university and life beyond school.

Head, David Paton, said:

“We’re thrilled with this year’s results, which support our year-on-year academic growth and indicate a significant uplift in the value-added data for this cohort. This shows how learning at Radnor helps pupils to progress at levels well above average and is a strong testament to the efforts of our dedicated staff, supportive parents and, of course, our incredible students.  Behind the statistics are countless stories of personal development, hard work and determination. They have navigated the academic challenge with immense maturity while continuing to thrive on the sports pitches, in debating and performing arts and in our art studios.”

Mr Milne, Head of Senior School, added:

“There were broad smiles and a number of very pleasant surprises as the envelopes were opened, and I am sure the celebrations will continue throughout the day and into the evening.  We are so proud of our students’ achievements and commend them for all the preparation and hard work they have put in. What makes today so rewarding is seeing success right across the curriculum. Whether it’s in the sciences, humanities, languages or the arts, our students have shown a genuine passion for learning.  These results provide them with a fantastic springboard as they transition into the Sixth Form, where we know they will continue to flourish.”

For many of our Year 11 students, results day marks the beginning of the next stage of their Radnor journey as they progress into Sixth Form. With greater independence, specialist A Level study, individual guidance and a strong focus on future pathways, students are encouraged to build on their achievements and shape their future.

Congratulations to every member of our Year 11 cohort. We are incredibly proud of what they have achieved and look forward to seeing where their next chapter takes them.
