Diving into Discovery: Year 3 & 4 Explore Marine Life

This week, Year 3 and 4 pupils at Radnor House Sevenoaks enjoyed a memorable Marvellous Middle Experience from their Archway Curriculum topic ‘From Rock to Reef’ with an educational visit to SEA LIFE Brighton.

The visit linked closely to pupils’ current geography learning on Australia, with a particular focus on the Great Barrier Reef and the country’s diverse physical features. Stepping beyond the classroom allowed pupils to see their learning brought vividly to life as they explored a variety of marine environments.

During the visit, pupils encountered a wide range of sea life housed within carefully designed natural habitats and reef systems. Sharks, turtles and colourful tropical fish proved especially captivating, sparking excitement and curiosity throughout the day. Observing these animals up close helped pupils develop a deeper understanding of how reef ecosystems support such rich biodiversity.

The experience encouraged thoughtful questioning and lively discussion, with pupils making meaningful connections between what they observed and their classroom studies. It was a pleasure to see such enthusiasm and engagement as they explored the wonders of the underwater world.

This enriching trip will continue to support learning in the coming term, inspiring further exploration of marine environments and reinforcing the importance of caring for and protecting our oceans.
