Radnor’s Green Flag with Distinction: Recognising Our Ongoing Eco Commitment

We are delighted that Radnor House Sevenoaks was awarded the Eco-Schools Green Flag with Distinction - for the third year in a row.  This prestigious accreditation recognises schools that go above and beyond in embedding sustainability across their curriculum, campus and community. Receiving the Green Flag with Distinction means our school has continually demonstrated exceptional commitment, pupil leadership and impact in making our environment greener and more sustainable.

The Eco-Schools Green Flag with Distinction is the highest level of recognition, awarded only to schools that consistently maintain and expand their eco initiatives year after year. It celebrates those who not only meet the Eco-Schools criteria but also show creativity, long-term planning and whole-school engagement in environmental action.

For the past three years, our Eco Committee, made up of passionate pupils from across the Prep School, has led numerous initiatives to reduce our environmental impact and inspire others to do the same. Some of our key achievements include:

  • Biodiversity projects – creating wildlife-friendly spaces such as bug hotels, pollinator gardens and beehives.
  • Waste reduction campaigns – raising awareness of recycling and launching innovative upcycling projects across the school.
  • Energy-saving initiatives – encouraging staff and students to think sustainably in their daily habits.
  • Awareness – delivering assemblies and eco-focused days like Make a Difference, to inspire the wider school community to act on climate issues.

Miss Newick, our Eco-Schools Coordinator, shared “We are incredibly proud to have achieved the Green Flag with Distinction for the third consecutive year - it’s a reflection of the pupils’ genuine passion for protecting the planet. Their creativity, teamwork and commitment continue to make Radnor House a beacon of environmental responsibility.”

This recognition highlights Radnor House’s belief that sustainability is more than just a project - it’s a mindset. Through pupil leadership, cross-curricular learning and community involvement, we continue to inspire meaningful action and ensure that every member of our school plays a part in building a greener future.

Mr Godwin, Head of the Prep School added “This is a wonderful reflection of the pupils’ enthusiasm, initiative and care for the world around them as global citizens.  It’s inspiring to see our young people leading the way with such passion and purpose.”
