Radnor House Sevenoaks – End of Autumn Term Highlights

As the Autumn Term draws to a close, there is a real sense of pride across Radnor House Sevenoaks. Over the past thirteen weeks, pupils across the Prep and Senior School have embraced new challenges, discovered new interests and grown in confidence, supported by a community that values curiosity, creativity and care.

September marked the beginning of an exciting journey for our new Year 7 pupils, alongside others who joined Radnor in different year groups. From their first days, they have settled quickly into school life, building friendships and engaging wholeheartedly with the opportunities around them. It has been a pleasure to see them finding their place within the Radnor community, supported by peers and staff alike.

In the Prep School, learning has been brought vividly to life through a rich programme of hands-on and creative experiences. Pupils explored history through Tudor Day workshops and a Viking raft-building challenge, while younger children celebrated Diwali through colour, music and storytelling. Educational visits to Kent Life and the Globe Theatre extended learning beyond the classroom, while a confident and engaging Year 3 assembly gave families a wonderful insight into pupils’ growing independence and self-assurance.

As the term drew to a close, festive traditions brought the community together. Carols in the Courtyard, Christmas lunch and the much-loved Nativity performances from Nursery to Year 2 created moments of joy and reflection, reminding us of the importance of shared experiences at the heart of school life.

Sport has played a central role throughout the term, offering pupils opportunities to develop teamwork, resilience and confidence. In the Prep School, the first Cross Country event and Swim Gala of the year set a positive tone, while Senior School sport saw pupils take part in both domestic and international fixtures, including Radnor’s first football tour to Barcelona. Across the school, pupils demonstrated commitment and progress, with particular success at national and regional level in hockey and swimming.

The Performing Arts have continued to thrive, providing pupils with a creative outlet and a platform for expression. The Scholars’ production of Antigone was performed with maturity and thoughtfulness, while House Music once again filled the school with energy and celebration. Looking ahead, anticipation is already building for next term’s Senior Production of School of Rock.

Academic engagement remains central to life at Radnor. Pupils have approached their studies with focus and enthusiasm, complemented by a strong culture of intellectual curiosity. This was reflected in a successful term for debating, with pupils performing confidently in both national competitions and inter-school events.

Beyond the classroom, pupils have continued to broaden their horizons through a varied programme of trips and co-curricular activities. Highlights included the Big Climb in Snowdonia, Sixth Form visits to Pompeii, and an impactful Sixth Form trip to Uganda, which strengthened Radnor’s long-standing partnership with Radnor Junior School in Semuto. Closer to home, visits to cultural institutions such as Tate Modern and the Globe Theatre further enriched pupils’ learning.

Co-curricular life has remained a defining feature of the Radnor experience. Events such as MADD Week, Odd Socks Day and the Porchlight Sleep-Out encouraged creativity, empathy and social awareness, while Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, Year 7 and 8 camping trips and international partnerships supported pupils in developing confidence, independence and a global outlook.

As we head into the Christmas break, the Autumn Term leaves us with a strong sense of momentum and optimism. It has been a term defined not only by achievement, but by growth, connection and community. We look forward to building on this in the Spring Term and continuing to support every pupil as they learn, thrive and discover who they are becoming.
