Music Takes Centre Stage at Radnor House

Music plays a vital role in the life of Radnor House Sevenoaks, and Prep Music Week is our opportunity to celebrate its power to bring pupils together, spark creativity, and develop confidence and expression. This annual event is a highlight of the school calendar, shining a spotlight on the joy of making, performing, and experiencing music across all year groups.

This year’s Music Week was a resounding success, filled with vibrant energy, hands-on activities and an infectious sense of community spirit. Each day offered a fresh opportunity for pupils to explore music in exciting and unexpected ways.

Monday began with a high-energy launch assembly. Senior students Connor and Loukas wowed the audience with standout performances on guitar and vocals, setting the tone for an inspiring week.  Students then joined in a fast-paced music quiz and listened to original tracks created by members of the school’s songwriting club.

On Tuesday morning, the Prep courtyard transformed into a DJ studio, with decks set up for pupils to explore the art of mixing and beatmatching. For many, it was their first hands-on experience with DJ equipment - an exciting experience for so many!

Wednesday’s theme was mentorship and collaboration with our “Play It Forward” session.  Senior musicians paired up with younger students to share tips, offer encouragement and confidence whilst playing together.  It was a wonderful way for the students of all ages, to connect and share in their passion for music.

Thursday’s innovative twist came with “Musical Fruits”, a fusion of science and sound. Pupils discovered how fruit could be used as conductors to create music, exploring the links between STEM and the arts in a fun, hands-on way that encouraged experimentation and curiosity.

The week ended on a high note with “Dress as Your Favourite Musician” Friday.  The school was transformed with everything from iconic rock legends to pop stars. It was a brilliant way to celebrate musical diversity and expression.

Music Week is more than a celebration - it's a platform for students to build confidence, explore new talents and experience the joy of performing and collaborating. It also strengthens the bonds across year groups and departments, reminding us that music is a language everyone can speak.  Bravo to all the students and staff who made the week so memorable!
