Academic Excellence at Radnor: December Update
As the Autumn Term draws to a close, Radnor House Sevenoaks is proud to share a snapshot of the academic momentum shaping our Senior School and Sixth Form. The past two years have marked a period of transformative progress - both in measurable outcomes and in the lived experience of our pupils.
A School on a Strong Upward Trajectory
Radnor’s improvement, academically and pastorally, now exceeds that of many comparable local schools. Our most recent ISI inspection - set for publication in January - reflects a community that prioritises pupils, delivers on its promises, and celebrates every individual. These findings confirm what families already experience daily: a school that is purposeful, ambitious and pupil-centred.
This is matched by continuous academic growth.
Over the last two years:
- A Level results have risen by 14 percentage points at A–A and by 19 percentage points at A–B**, with no significant change in the underlying cohort profile.
- GCSE results have strengthened, with a 10% increase in grades 9–7 between 2024 and 2025.
- Value Added at GCSE is exceptional: pupils achieve, on average, half a grade higher per subject than predicted - equivalent to four or five grades higher across a full set of results.
These indicators confirm that Radnor pupils consistently outperform expectations, benefiting from high-quality teaching, targeted support, and a culture that encourages academic aspiration.
Sixth Form: A Highly Personalised Experience
This academic progress is mirrored in the Radnor Sixth Form, where pupils report near-universal satisfaction with their experience. Students highlight:
- Highly personalised academic support
- Strong pastoral care
- Expert university and careers guidance
- A close-knit community with high expectations
This supportive yet challenging environment ensures that every learner is known as an individual. Two-thirds of our A Level students now progress to top-tier or Russell Group universities, and that proportion continues to grow each year.
More Than Results: Education That Builds Character
Radnor’s ambition reaches beyond league tables. We remain a school that champions values, character, and opportunity - elements that often go unmeasured but make a profound difference in pupils’ development.
While participation in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is declining in many schools, Radnor continues to invest in and celebrate this transformative programme. It sits alongside a broader character-education commitment that underpins daily school life and prepares pupils for adulthood with resilience, empathy, and confidence.
The warm reflections from our Sixth Form leavers each year demonstrate a school that delivers both academic challenge and genuine personal support - a balance that defines the Radnor ethos.
Looking Ahead
Our mission for the next five years is clear: to break into the top 100 independent schools in the UK. With academic results, university destinations and Value-Added scores all moving decisively in that direction, Radnor is firmly on course.
Radnor House Sevenoaks is becoming a school that others seek to emulate - ambitious, forward-thinking and committed to delivering an exceptional education for every pupil. We look forward to sharing more in January about what this journey means for future families.
