Radnor Golfer Takes Top Honours at World Schools Golf Competition
Seven Radnor House Senior students (Years 8, 9, 10, 12 and 13) travelled to St Andrews this September to compete against young golfers from around the world at the World Schools Golf competition. Accompanied by Director of Sport, Mr Allberry, the Radnor team took to the course over three days of competition, playing alongside students from schools in Belgium, Saudi Arabia, Dubai and beyond.
The event gave the students the opportunity to test their skills across three challenging courses, including two used for Open Championship qualifying. Players competed across both gross scoring and Stableford competitions, with performances reflecting their individual handicaps.
There was particular success for Year 13 student Luke Clapham, who won the Senior Boys’ Stableford competition – a fantastic individual achievement against an international field. Radnor House also finished 10th overall, rounding off a strong performance from the team.
Mr Allberry was delighted in the team’s performance and commented “The students played exceptionally well across three tough and challenging courses. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to compete against players from schools around the world and experience golf at such an iconic destination. We’re particularly proud of Luke for winning the Senior Stableford competition, but all seven students represented Radnor brilliantly throughout the three days.”
Beyond the competition itself, the trip offered a memorable opportunity for students to develop their game, experience high-level competition and enjoy playing in St Andrews – one of the most celebrated golfing destinations in the world.
