Celebrating Year 11: Reaching an Important Milestone

As our Year 11 students reach the end of an important stage in their Radnor House journey, we celebrate a cohort who have grown not only academically, but personally, embracing challenge with confidence and determination. Their journey through the GCSE years has been shaped by resilience, curiosity and a strong sense of community - qualities that will serve them well as they move into Sixth Form and beyond.

Throughout their time at Radnor, this year group has demonstrated a genuine commitment to learning. Whether through classroom discussion, creative work, sporting endeavour or leadership within the wider school community, our Year 11 students have consistently risen to expectations while remaining supportive of one another.

As students prepared to begin study leave and focus on their forthcoming GCSE examinations, the school marked the occasion with a series of special moments designed to celebrate everything they have achieved so far. These end‑of‑year events offered time for reflection, encouragement and shared memories alongside staff and peers.

The celebrations included a formal dinner, where students and staff came together for an evening of conversation, reflection and much laughter, followed by a relaxed breakfast gathering the next morning. Students also received their commemorative hoodies and took part in the much‑loved tradition of signing shirts - a joyful moment that captured the spirit of the year group and the relationships they have built during their time at Radnor.

The week concluded with a special assembly, bringing the cohort together to reflect on their journey and to wish them well as they look ahead to the weeks to come. Staff shared messages of encouragement, and students enjoyed time together outdoors, rounding off the celebrations with laughter and fun.

Head David Paton reflected on the cohort’s journey, saying:
“Reaching the end of Year 11, with only your GCSEs between you and one of the great summers of your life, is a moment you will always remember. I am incredibly proud of all you have achieved this year and wish you every success in the exams ahead."

Head of Middle School Victoria Hay reflected on the significance of this stage in the students’ journey, saying:
“Year 11 marks an important moment of growth for our students. The students have shown real maturity in how they approach both challenge and opportunity, and the way they have supported one another speaks volumes about the sense of community they have developed during their time in Middle School.  I have loved being part of their journey!”

We are incredibly proud of everything our Year 11 students have achieved and wish them every success as they prepare for their examinations. We very much look forward to welcoming many of them back into Radnor Sixth Form, ready to build on everything they have accomplished so far and to begin the next chapter of their journey.
