Remote Learning Policy

In response to school moving to a virtual environment, we have created a ‘Remote Learning Policy’.  We would encourage parents and carers to read the policy, which covers expectations of Pupils, Staff and Families.  The policy can be viewed on our school website here

Talking about Coronavirus - Not Worrying Children

It is important to give children a chance to talk about their concerns and not make them bottle up fears, especially if they see changes and worry around them, so don’t pretend nothing is happening.

We are listing two recommended resources to help with conversations at home:

Coronavirus video series from CBBC Newsround - click here to help explain what is happening in a child-friendly way.

Top ten tips for "Talking to your children about scary world news". Click here from the Mental Health Foundation.  For under 7s, this Worry Booklet here will help them to explore their feelings.

READING @RH7 Reads

"We read to know we are not alone." (C.S. Lewis)

Many authors and illustrators are providing daily readings and free resources to keep us reading as a community.  Book Trust have compiled a fantastic page of resources from authors and illustrators for all ages on their website.  Do take a look here.

Virtual Easter Camp

To support you and the children, we have been working on some ideas for a virtual Easter Camp.  It is entirely up to you and your children if they wish to join in with the activities for the whole time, or just dip in and out.

In the Senior School we will be offering a morning only Challenge Club from 9-12.  A member of staff will introduce their morning challenge and discuss this with the children.  They then go away and meet back at 11.30 to show and discuss what they have created.

If your child would like to take part, they simply need to be logged into the Whole Senior School Team of MS Teams at 9am.

Information regarding the daily activities will also appear on the Whole Senior School Team, including what resources are required.

The first activity, on Monday, is Current Affairs with Mr White (no resources required).

Remote Learning Pupil Survey

Please can you encourage your children to complete the following survey about our remote learning provision.

Potential Timetable Changes

Once we have greater understanding of the implications for the Year 11 and 13 students, and once we have received all of our feedback on remote learning, there may be some minor changes to the timetable. Pupils and parents will be informed in advance of any changes made.

Pupil IT Acceptable Use Policy (IT AUP)

We have updated Pupil AUPs with a section about remote learning.  The updated AUPs have been sent out via email, to all parents and pupils in Year 4-13, today.  Both parents and pupils will need to download and digitally sign the policy.  Please do take a few minutes to talk it through with your child.  A copy can be found here.
