Co-Curricular Clubs and Activities- Summer 2019
Please find attached here our tremendous list of clubs and activities that will be on offer for the Summer Term 2019. We are privileged at Radnor House to have so many staff offering such a wonderful array of clubs and activities to compliment the curriculum. Please be aware that the list is correct at the current time, but may be altered or added to over the coming weeks.
A reminder that the sign up process is through our SOCS Co-Curricular platform. Your username is your child's school email address eg. email@example.com and the generic password. If you do not already know it, this will be sent to you separately. Click here to access SOCS.
The sign up window will open next Monday 1 April at 6pm and close on Friday 5 April at 6pm. Clubs will commence in the Summer Term on the first teaching day, Wednesday 24 April.
As a change from the previous year students will be auto-enrolled for the following paid clubs for the Summer Term: Tennis, Sailing, Taekwondo, Ballet, Gymnastics, Modern/Street & Tap Dance. With clubs now billed in arrears, it makes sense to make a return to auto-enrolment so that students who have been paying for a club may get continuity. It is essential, therefore, that any student who does not wish to continue with their paid club, must request to be removed prior to the sign up window. Please make this request by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. I have collated lists of those who requested to be placed on a waiting list for a club and they will be automatically added for the Summer Term. Please ensure that if your child has had a change of heart, you remove them from the club list to provide space for others.
Lastly, a reminder that WRAP Care and Weekend Outdoor Expeditions are also booked through SOCS and these are available as separate categories. If you have any issues with the sign up process, please email: email@example.com
Read For Good Readathon

Year 2 Africa Day and Cake Sale – Tuesday 2 April 2019
We are very excited for the upcoming Africa Day. We would like the children in Year 2 to dress up for their ‘trip’ to Africa by wearing safari gear. They also need to bring a small suitcase with items they think might be useful for the ‘trip’ e.g binoculars, sunglasses and a safari hat. They will still be going out at playtimes as normal so will need sensible footwear and coats.
To raise awareness and funds for our international charity, Project Le Monde and the Radnor House Ugandan Schools, we will be holding a cake sale in the courtyard from 3.30pm. We would be very grateful if the children could bake cakes (maybe with an African decorative theme). Please remember to bring small change for the cakes. All parents are very welcome to attend.
Year 3 and 4 - Production of Mystery at Magpie Manor - Action Required
If you have not already booked your place for the production, please do so by following the link in the attached letter. The order form for seats will close on Monday 1 April at 9am. If we have any spare seats after the closure we will release them later that day on a first come, first served basis. Please find attached the order form for the DVD of this fabulous production. We would appreciate all forms to be returned to the Prep Office by Friday 5 April. Printed forms will also be available for completion at both performances.
Italian Pop-Up Restaurant
To raise funds for the Uganda trip there will be a pop-up restaurant in the evening on Saturday 18 May in the school dining room. You are invited to book a table of 6 people or more. Once you have booked we will email you the menu (5 courses) and ask you to choose your main course and dessert. We are asking for a minimum donation of £25 per person which will be collected on the night. We do have a maximum of 60 so please book early to avoid disappointment. Come and enjoy an evening with friends and savour wonderful Italian food such as lasagne, carbonara, stuffed aubergine, tiramisu, granita, pannacotta and biscotti all cooked on site by volunteer non-professional chefs, in other words staff, pupils and parents!
Please email Mrs Mags Southgate to book your table: firstname.lastname@example.org
Performing Arts Timetables
The Performing Arts Timetables are available here. Please check regularly as times and occasionally days are subject to change. Timetables are also displayed on the notice boards in the Performing Arts Centre and outside the Prep School Music classroom. The peripatetic staff do their best to look for clashes with trips, fixtures and talks, but if any of your child's lessons are scheduled for the same time as events of this nature, please inform the relevant peripatetic teacher so that lessons can be rearranged in good time.
Message from Mrs Bliss, Newton House - Easter Fair
Newton house are very excited about the Easter Fair and raising money for our charity West Kent Mind. We would really appreciate the following donations:
Pick up the Smarties
We will be running a how many Smarties can you pick up in 30 seconds game. If you would be able to donate some Smarties it would be really appreciated.
Jolly Jam Jars
Jolly jars are clean jam jars, (or any glass jar with a lid), decorated by the children and filled with small toys and treats. Decorating and filling the jars is great fun and a lovely way to get in to the charity spirit in the run up to the Fair. The sort of items that prove popular are - wrapped sweets or lollies, unused small toys/party bag toys, hair accessories, toy jewellery, stickers and stationery.
Please do not use jars that have contained vinegar or oil as the smell lingers and taints the goodies inside. Wrapped sweets only for hygiene purposes and NO nuts please. Jars can be decorated either on the glass with sharpies/paint/glitter, or over the lid with tissue paper or patterned fabric and fixed with an elastic band. A blue colour theme would be great! We would like Jolly Jars to be with us by Tuesday 2 April, and placed with the house charity box under the arch. Thanks in advance for your support.
Year 2 pupils and parents will be hosting a cake sale on Tuesday 2 April from 3.30pm in the prep courtyard. This is in aid of our international charity - Project Le Monde. All cakes will be £1. You may wish to send your child in with money in a named purse or bring change at pick up.
