Call for Parent Volunteers for Network Evening Careers Event: Thursday 7 March from 6.30pm to 8pm
We are holding our annual Network Evening Careers Event for our Year 10 - 13 students. The aim of the evening is for our students to meet parent volunteers who have (or who have had) a professional role and discuss with them their careers either specifically or in general, how they achieved this career and key advice for the next few years. This way they will gain further advice and guidance on a wide variety of careers and pathways they may experience, careers that they might not be aware of, the need to be aspirational, to take risks, but also be flexible whilst at the same time developing the skill of networking and their confidence. Parent volunteers do not have to prepare anything specifically for the evening (though we will ask for a short pen picture of your career that we will share with the students in advance), and it is meant to be an informal event to allow the students and parents to mix and to aid several conversations throughout the evening.
We are still looking for additional parental volunteers, so please support this event if you can. The Network Evening supports the in-school PSHEE sessions where Careers is delivered, the use of online resources that help guide our students and works towards the work experience opportunity that the students have in Years 11 and 12. All parents are therefore welcome to assist and many thanks to those parents who have already committed to supporting this important aspect of our Careers Programme. If you are able to support this event please email email@example.com so that we can send you further information. Many thanks and kindest regards, Mr D Leddington - Head of Sixth Form
Unless in the case of an extreme emergency, please be advised that Wrap Care is at full capacity and spaces cannot be booked now until the new Clubs are released at the end of this term in readiness for next term.
Phonics Morning On Wednesday 27 February
Thank you to all those who have responded so far. This is just a reminder to say that we will be hosting our phonics coffee morning for Reception and Year 1 parents on Wednesday 27 February after drop off. Please follow the link here to give us an idea of numbers and include any questions or areas of phonics that you would like to learn more about. We look forward to seeing you then. - Mr Veness
World Book Day - Wednesday 7 March
We are all looking forward to celebrating our love of reading on Wednesday 7 March for World Book Day! We would love for the children to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. There will be lots of activities throughout the day and we will kick things off with a parade in the courtyard. Mr John Veness
Radnor House Charity Golf Day
Thank you to everyone who has expressed an interest in taking part in the Radnor Charity Golf Day taking place on Sunday 23 June at Westerham Golf Club. We now have all 60 spaces filled and even have names on a reserve list.
Letters will be going out to all of those who have expressed an interest so far, asking them to pay for their contribution to the day - £70 for adults and £50 for juniors. This price includes breakfast, golf and a two course meal afterwards with a proportion of the money raised going to the school's national charity, the RSPCA.
Please could I ask that you fill in your details on the letter as soon as possible and return this to the Prep Office before 22 March so I can guarantee your place. Any remaining places after this time will be offered to those on the reserve list on a first come, first serve basis.
If you have any questions or would like to be placed on the reserve list for a place on the day, please contact Mr Woodward (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Combe Bank Drive Mini Roundabout
It has been brought to our attention that when leaving there are a number of parents ignoring the roundabout at the top of the drive which has nearly caused three or four accidents. The roundabout should be treated the same as any other, and drivers should give way to vehicles coming from the right. In the mornings teachers will be turning right into the staff car park so parents exiting from the visitors car park should be giving way to them. At the moment there are a number of drivers who are not. To avoid potential accidents please adhere to the rules of the road as written in the highway code and give way.
Car Park Drop off Zone
Despite previous requests we still have a number of parents who are not just “dropping off”. Please can we ask that if you want to catch up with other parents or spend time saying goodbye to your child that you park in a designated bay. It is extremely frustrating to those who simply want to drop and go and it causes congestion. We have also been asked to remind you that the zig zag areas are no parking zones and are there for safety reasons.
