Participation in sports at Radnor House Sevenoaks is an integral part of our student's educational experience.

Our sporting programme offers a wide range of opportunities for pupils to develop confident and varied skill sets in an extensive range of sports. Our aim is to develop a strong sporting culture which will lead pupils into a lifelong love of sport whilst staying physically and mentally fit and healthy throughout their lives.

At Radnor House, we firmly believe in sport for all whilst providing opportunities for the more able to achieve excellence through our elite A teams, pre-season programmes, and sport scholarship programme.

From September 2020 the school will be implementing a gender equal approach to sport with our focus sports being hockey, football, cricket and swimming for both boys and girls from ages 8-18. In addition, PE lessons and a wide and diverse co-curricular programme offer pupils opportunities to train and play fixtures in cross country, tennis, athletics, basketball, rugby and netball to name but a few.

In the prep school, pupils are exposed to a wide range of sports to develop their physical literacy during these vital early years. During games lessons all pupils participate in a busy fixture programme whilst competing at their level in our focus sports of football, hockey and cricket for both boys and girls. To add further breadth, we offer a girl’s netball and boy’s rugby programme and all pupils experience one swimming and one PE lesson per week.

In the senior school, training sessions and regular fixtures for our focus sports of hockey, football and cricket are delivered during games lessons and after school training sessions. Pupils may also participate in other sports including rugby, basketball, swimming, athletics, badminton, tennis and netball during their weekly PE lessons and through our excellent sports co-curricular programme.

Sport at Radnor House places great importance on following the school’s core values. We expect our students to demonstrate these behaviours on and off the sports field. These are the traits we wish all Radnorians to embody and will ultimately allow them to not only achieve in sport but also in life beyond school:

Courage – For pupils to challenge themselves against tough opposition and being prepared to fail or make mistakes in order to develop and learn.

Perseverance – For pupils to never give up and always give their best no matter how hard the challenge they face.

Respect – For pupils to always respect their teammates, opponents, coaches and officials.

Excellence – For pupils to perform at their best when representing the school teams. For the more able this may be reaching the A teams, gaining representative honours or being part of the sports scholarship programme.

Sport at Radnor House is currently benefiting from huge investment in its sports facilities and staffing. Our sports facilities currently include:

  • A full-size hockey sand dressed AstroTurf hockey pitch with two separate training areas.  Construction will be completed for September 2020.

  • Newly updated and upgraded fitness suite.

  • Multi use sportshall.

  • 25 metre swimming pool with viewing gallery.

  • Grass playing fields for cricket, athletics, rugby and football at the Sundridge recreational ground.

  • Tennis courts.

  • Netball courts.

  • Cross country course.

Plans are also in place to develop our own playing fields to include a pavilion, cricket pitch, grass athletics track, rugby and football pitches over the next few years. You can see what the future holds here
