Scholarships

Radnor House Sevenoaks offers a range of Academic, Art, Drama, Music, Sport and Values (All Rounder) scholarships for entry into Year 4, Year 7, Year 9 and the Sixth Form.

The award of a scholarship not only brings with it financial reward, it also provides an exciting framework and pathway for our scholars to pursue and develop their passions and skills.  All our scholarships have bespoke scholarship programmes which include personal mentoring and an extensive enrichment programme which all scholars are expected to take part in to stretch and challenge themselves.

Scholarships are typically worth between 5%- 10% of the annual tuition fee but may, in exceptional circumstances, be increased through the award of an Outstanding Scholarship which is entirely at the Scholarship Board's discretion.  In addition, means tested bursaries worth up to 50% of the tuition fee, are also available but only after a scholarship has been awarded.

Scholarships are available at Year 7, Year 9 and Sixth Form for both internal and external candidates.  Scholarships will not be awarded, nor the financial reward increased, at any other point in a child’s educational journey through Radnor House.

A pupil must apply for a sports, drama, art or music scholarship but, from January 2024, will be automatically considered for an academic or all rounder (Values) scholarship based on performance during assessment.

Once awarded, a scholarship will stay with the award holder throughout their time at Radnor House provided that they continue to show appropriate effort, enthusiasm and performance, and is dependent on good conduct.  Radnor House reserves the right to withdraw awards at any point if, in the opinion of the Head, and after monitoring procedures, the award holder is performing significantly below expectations or in cases of serious misconduct.

Scholarship applications for internal pupils should be submitted in the same way as external applicants, as outlined below.

Candidates may apply for more than one scholarship but no more than one will be awarded.

The school offers Academic, Art, Drama, Music, Sport and Values (All-Rounder) scholarships.  We know that pupils continue to develop as they move through Senior School and so these scholarships are available for internal and external candidates at Year 9 and Sixth Form. Late candidates will be considered for academic scholarships only.

For those pupils who are already in possession of a scholarship and continue to make significant and rapid development in their particular area of interest there is also the opportunity to apply for an enhanced Outstanding Scholarship at Year 9 and Sixth Form.  Internal candidates should apply in the same way as external candidates.

All Rounder (Values) Scholarship

We understand that young people do not always fit into a specific category but rather have a broad range of skills and interests. The Values Scholarship is awarded to those pupils who are considered 'all rounders' and can demonstrate a considerable commitment to the school’s values of Respect, Courage, Excellence and Perseverance in a range of disciplines.

Exhibitions

An exhibition may be awarded to pupils who have performed well during the assessment process, but who narrowly miss out on a scholarship.  The exhibition carries a one-off fee remission and does not include entry onto the scholarship programme.  Only scholars may apply for a means tested bursary.
