My School Portal

To enhance the way we communicate with you as parents and manage important information about your children, we are pleased to announce that My School Portal (‘MSP’) is now live.

This new, secure, web-based communication and parental information cloud-based platform is ready to sign up to we would ask that all parents use the system as soon as possible to ensure that you receive all relevant and important information from us. Sign up is easy and once you are into the system you should find it simple to navigate your way around. Attached here you will find instructions to guide you through the setup process. 

Through MSP you will now have secure, 24-hour access to personalised data about your child/ren via one username and password. 

From one intuitive, simple to use dashboard, you can access emails, reports, attendance records, timetables, sports fixtures, and many other useful features using your smartphone, tablet or desktop devices.

We have spent the last year working with MSP and personalising it for the Radnor community.  There are many features that will be added to the portal over the forthcoming months including events and trips, but in the short term we would be keen to receive any feedback you may have.  Part of the set up process included having a willing group of parents who tested the portal for us for two weeks.  We have listened to their feedback (both positive and negative) and we have made changes where we are able.  However, we must make you aware that there are some changes that we cannot make as MSP is offered out to many other schools and we can only work with their basic programme.

We are very excited with this new portal and the prospect of improving further our engagement with you and keeping you even better informed about your child/ren’s day to day schedule and progress.

Sport Update

Burns Night Gala Dinner - Saturday 25 January 2020 - 7pm until Midnight

We still  have a few tickets available for this event which is being hosted by David and Jo Paton at RH7.  The Piper and Celidih Band are booked and it is sure to be a fun night of excellent food, dancing and of course a few drams!  Please see attached a copy of the fabulous menu for the evening. To purchase individual tickets or to book tables of 8 or 10, please click here.

Year 10, 11 and Sixth Form Network Evening on Thursday 5 March 2020

We will be holding our Careers Network Evening Event from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.  This has proved a very successful and popular event for our Year 10, 11 and Sixth Form students to gain awareness and careers guidance from a wide range of professionals in different industries. The evening is designed to be a relatively informal, networking style event to allow our students to meet with adults and discuss their various careers.  To make these evening as successful and useful as possible we need as many volunteers as we can from our parents who are willing to give up their time and help provide some advice and guidance.  If you are willing to take part please email Emma Hanrott  at ehanrott@radnor-sevenoaks.org so that we can provide you with further details.

3rd Annual Radnor House Golf Day - Sunday 14 June 2020

After the huge success of previous events where we have raised £4500 for our school charities, we are looking to hold our 3rd Radnor Charity Golf Day on Sunday 14 June 2020.  This year's event will take place at Farleigh Golf Club in Warlingham and our chosen charity is MacMillan Cancer Support, a charity close to our hearts in the Prep School.  This year, we are inviting as many people as possible to attend, so if you are not a golfer, you will be still more than welcome to attend the dinner and raffle prize draw afterwards.  Hopefully this will encourage families and friends to all come together to support this fantastic cause.  If you are interested in being a part of the day, please fill out the feasibility form attached here.  There is no obligation to take part once you have completed this form, but it is important for me to gain an idea of initial numbers.  Any questions, please contact Mr Woodward (awoodward@radnor-sevenoaks.org).

Reception Class for 2020

To ensure you have all the information you need with regards to your child’s transition to our Reception class this September we would like to invite you to a Parents' Information morning on Tuesday 21 January at 9am.  This will be an opportunity for you to gain more insight into our Reception class and the Prep School and will also be an opportunity for us to answer any questions you may have in order to ensure a smooth transition for your child in September 2020.

Flu Immunisation Information - Monday 20 January

Please see below the information we have received from the Immunisation Team. 

As you are aware due to the interruption of the flu vaccine supply we have had to reschedule your child's school for the flu vaccination for January.   Could we ask that if your child has already received their flu vaccination at the GP or one of our community clinics, you contact our immunisation hub asap on 0300 123 5205, alternatively please email us at kchft.cyp-immunisationteam@nhs.net to make us aware.

Maths Week - Money, Money, Money!

This year's Maths Week is based on the theme of money and will take place on the week beginning Monday 3 February.  We have some great events already planned including a theatre company coming to visit as well as a visit from volunteers from NatWest to discuss being responsible with our finances.  Years 5 and 6 will also be organising and planning their own businesses in preparation for the Easter Fair. 

On Friday 7 February, the children are asked to come into school dressed up with a maths theme - anything money related would be incredible, but calculators, maths wizards, dominoes, protractors, numbers are all fantastic possibilities. There will be prizes for the best costumes in Lower Prep and Upper Prep.  More information will be made available in the coming weeks. 

Maths Workshops

Thank you to everyone who took the time to fill in the survey regarding Maths Workshops that are taking place this term.  Your feedback was really helpful and I can confirm that we will be holding 3 workshops later this term where we would like to invite parents in to discuss the progression in skills of each of the four operations, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.  The dates of each event are as follows:  

Addition and Subtraction Friday 28 February - 8.40am-9.40am

Multiplication Friday 6 March - 8.40am-9.40am

Division Friday 20 March - 8.40am-9.40am

Strictly Poetry House Competition Coming Soon!

We will be holding our inaugural Strictly Poetry House Competition Final on Thursday 30 January in assembly.  Pupils are invited to recite a poem (a published one or one of their own creation), on their own, with a friend or group of friends.  Pupils will be representing their houses and we will have a "Strictly" style final for performers. 

If your child would like to take part, they need to sign up with their form teachers as soon as possible.  It would be wonderful if you are able to encourage and help your child to learn and perform their chosen poems.

Prep PSHE Parent Working Party

From September 2020, the Health Education and Relationships Education aspects of PSHE education will be compulsory in all schools.  At Radnor, in the Prep School we have already implemented parts of the new curriculum to empower our children with many new life skills, such as naming our body parts, online safety, the pants rule, basic first aid skills and so much more.  The children have been really enjoying the lessons as well as being able to talk passionately about these topics. 

As we move towards September 2020, I would like to give Reception to Year 6 parents the opportunity to come in and contribute to the discussion around the new policy.  If this is something you would be interested in, please email kdale@radnor-sevenoaks.org.  It would be fantastic to have representatives from each year group.  Once I have an idea of who would like to be involved, I will contact you and we will meet this term to discuss further.  The deadline for signing up to this working party is Friday 17 January 2020.  Katie Dale, Head of Prep PSHE

Parents' Association - FoRH7

Happy New Year to you all.  We have a Friends meeting at 7pm on Tuesday 21 January in the Senior School Library.  Come along to hear about upcoming events for 2020.  All welcome.
