Important Message from the RH7 IT Department

Please be advised that during this last week, we have had more requests than normal from parents and staff members with 365 services issues (e.g. Teams, OneNote etc). This was not for all users and it is very intermittent.

This is due to the volume of users that are currently using Microsoft services. Microsoft is in the process of adding more resources to their data centres to cope with the ongoing demand.

If you have any continuing problems, please do contact us - it@radnor-sevenoaks.org

Contact with the School during Closure due to COVID-19

Due to the school being closed and following guidelines from the Government and Department of Health, our support teams are all working from home.  The school phones will transfer to mobile phones, but if you need to contact anybody urgently and to ensure that we get back to you promptly, please use the numbers and email addresses below rather than the main school number.  We have also added this information to My School Portal and the school website:

Year 12 News

Year 12 Examinations

Year 12 students will have their school examinations from Friday 1 May to Friday 15 May inclusive.  We have extended the exam period  to this length in order to more closely replicate the actual exams next summer, and to avoid pupils sitting two exams in one day. The timetable is attached  here

In these extraordinary circumstances you will understand that we will be running these exams rather differently from normal.  A variety of platforms will be used depending on the subject being examined and pupils will receive instructions from their class teacher in advance, as to how to access the exams on the appropriate day.

Whilst these exams will not be able to replicate the final exam experience for your children, they are nevertheless both important and very useful in ensuring that the pupils engage in a full preparation for exams in the normal way, that they revise thoroughly and learn the work covered in the course.  At the very least they will gain an understanding of what they know, and what they do not yet know, and of the efficacy of their revision methods.

All the teaching staff would be most grateful for your continued support during this period. There will inevitably be some "hiccoughs", but the overriding principle must be to provide the best experience that we can, and for the pupils to learn as much as they can about themselves and their work habits and approach.  If there are any technical hitches, please contact the subject teacher who will be able to ensure that no time is lost because of this.

We would be very grateful if you could ensure, as far as possible, a quiet working space for these exams, without access to other materials, so that the sanctity of the exams can be preserved as much as possible.  There will be time limits, as you would expect, in terms of submitting the completed papers and your help, in ensuring that these are adhered to, would be much appreciated.

For those pupils with SEN exam arrangements, there is a support document attached here from Mrs Hancock.

May I thank you in advance for your support with this

IMPORTANT SCHOOL CHARITIES UPDATE

As you will be aware many charities are struggling with the impact of the virus and lockdown.  We have been in touch with our school charities and sadly it is hitting them all hard, be that in different ways.

In response, Friends have made early payments of £1000 to each of our local house charities and Project Le Monde, which has been very gratefully received (we usually make the donations in October after our financial year end).  For Macmillan, we still hope to have a specific fundraiser event later in the year, and so have not made a payment to them as yet, but this may be reviewed.  Class reps will be circulating the feedback we have received from the charities, and if you’d like any more information please email friends@radnor-sevenoaks.org.  Thank you to everyone who made these much needed donations possible via your fundraising efforts and attendance to Friends school events.

Further ways you can help:

You and your families could take part in The 2.6 Challenge taking place this Sunday, 26th April in support of Project Le Monde.  Click here to reach their Just Giving page.

Our summer ball has been moved to Saturday 26th June 2021, but we are investigating an online auction for this year, if you have any item we can include please get in touch.

House charity loose change collection - you could collect any loose change you have at home, and bring in the money when it is safe to do so.  It's amazing how it all adds up!

Sign up here to Easyfundraising, a free scheme to donate as you shop online.  Every penny counts, and 100's of online shops and services participate.  We currently have just 10 supporters, let's aim for at least 30 by the end of April!

If you have any ideas on fundraising for your house charity, or for all of the school charities, please get in touch friends@radnor-sevenoaks.org.
