Pre-Prep Co-Curricular
Our Pre-Prep co-curricular programme enriches students and offers a broad range of activities designed to complement the academic syllabus.
From Year 1 onwards, students participate in three activity sessions weekly, with the program changing each term to allow children to explore new interests. Activities span across Sport, Art, Drama, Music, IT, and Academic Subjects.
Sports
We aim to instil determination, confidence, passion, respect, and teamwork through sport from an early age. Our extensive sports facilities include a full-size multi-purpose astro-turf, football and rugby pitches, four netball/tennis courts, a 25-metre indoor swimming pool, a sports hall, and cricket nets and green. We encourage a lifelong love for sport and physical activity through a varied and exciting curriculum, including weekly swimming lessons for all students.
- Nursery: Extracurricular activities like ballet, mini tennis, and Taekwon-Do sessions.
- Reception: Multi-skills PE lessons focusing on throwing, catching, agility, balance, and ball skills, with athletics highlighted in the summer term. Ballet lessons following The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance syllabus are available weekly.
- Year 1 and 2: Multi-skills lessons to develop coordination, agility, balance, and ball skills, along with gymnastics, running, and athletics. Sports day is a yearly highlight.
Performing Arts and Music
- Drama: From Reception to Year 2, our drama specialist teaches weekly classes, helping students build confidence through character development, dance actions, and collaborative performances. All pre-prep students will take part in the Nativity performance at Christmas.
- Music: Weekly music lessons with our specialist teacher include singing to improve language, pitch, and diction, and preparing for seasonal performances. Students use a variety of instruments designed for small hands, making music a joyful and noisy experience.
Technology
We prepare children for a technically diverse global economy through a comprehensive computing curriculum. Activities include push-button tasks, remote control devices, simple programmable robots like Bee-Bot, musical keyboards, digital cameras, interactive books, desktop computers, and mobile devices. Online safety education is a key component, and we support families with the latest information on keeping children safe online.
Library
At Radnor House, our Pre-Prep pupils have the opportunity to explore the Prep School library—a welcoming space designed for browsing, reading, drawing, and colouring. The library is accessible to students during morning break and they enjoy a weekly library lesson. From Reception onwards, children can borrow books, fostering a love of reading early on.
