David Paton to resume Headship of Radnor House
We are delighted to announce that David Paton will be resuming the Headship at Radnor House Sevenoaks from January 2024.
Fraser Halliwell, our current Head, has indicated that he would like to pursue other opportunities and will be leaving Radnor House Sevenoaks at Christmas, 2023.
Chair, Dr Colin Diggory, says, ‘ The Board of Directors is delighted to have appointed David Paton to take over from Mr Halliwell from January 2024. Mr Paton is currently our Executive Director and was previously the founding Head of Radnor House Twickenham from 2010 to 2016, and then Head of Radnor House Sevenoaks from 2016 to 2020.
‘We are indebted to Mr Halliwell’s leadership over the past three years and wish him every success in the future.’
During his break Mr Paton pursued his wider interest in education and gained a distinction in his second Master’s degree in ‘International Education and Development’ at Sussex University. He also founded a low-cost Primary School in Uganda (Radnor Junior School, Semuto) and is a Governor at two local Primary Schools: Co-Chair at Churchill School, Westerham and Deputy Chair at Ide Hill School.
As a qualified Mountain Leader, Mr Paton leads the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award at Radnor and is looking forward to leading the 2024 expedition to Glen Coe in Scotland.
‘Radnor is a very special place and I am excited about the opportunities ahead. Working in education for over 20 years, the thing I most love about schools is every child’s potential. They are like sponges, with an insatiable thirst not just for knowledge but also for values and character.’
Mr Paton is married to Jo and they have three children, all of whom have attended Radnor House Sevenoaks. They live locally in Ide Hill and have two labradors – Beth and Monty. Jo and David have remained involved in Radnor House Sevenoaks since its inception in 2016 and are excited about the future of the school under David’s Headship.
