Science

Radnor House Sevenoaks offers a first class science education delivered in first class facilities.

Each science discipline (Chemistry, Biology and Physics) has its own specialised laboratory and well qualified teachers provide a quality science education giving students the foundations for understanding the world.  All students are taught essential aspects of the knowledge, methods, processes and uses of science. Through building up a body of key foundational knowledge and concepts, students are encouraged to recognise the power of rational explanation and develop a sense of excitement and curiosity about natural phenomena.

Years 7 and 8

In Years 7 and 8 students will study the Exploring Science integrated course in three lessons per week. Lessons are centred on hands-on activities and all students are encouraged to stretch and challenge themselves.

Year 9

In Year 9 specialist teaching begins as students follow Edexcel IGCSE. The course is taught over a total of 9 lessons per fortnight. Progress and understanding will be monitored throughout the year using both formative and summative assessment, which includes topic tests and end of year exams.

Years 10 and 11 Edexcel IGCSE

Year 10 and 11 study the Edexcel courses for triple science or double award.  Students are grouped according to which course they are studying but are able to move between groups within the academic year.  Students receive 5 hours of each science per fortnight.

Each student is provided with a high-quality textbook, with easy access information and exam style questions and are welcome to stay after school for one-to-one support.
