Year 9 Options
Pupils at Radnor House will take 9 or 10 GCSEs. This final number depends on whether triple or double science is taken. This is usually decided after the Year 10 Summer Exams, following advice from the science teachers.
The following GCSE courses are compulsory:
- Mathematics
- English Literature
- English Language
- Science (2 or 3 GCSEs)
- Modern Foreign Language
There are three remaining options to choose from the following subjects:
- Religious Studies
- Geography
- History
- Business
- Art
- Music
- Drama
- PE
- Computer Science
- Second Modern Language
During the Autumn Term of Year 9, in preparation for making decisions about options, there will be a “taster” lesson, dedicated careers advice sessions, and a Q and A options assembly with sixth formers.
Following this, option blocks will be sent out to pupils and parents so that pupils can begin to make their selection within those blocks.
In the Spring Term there is a Year 9 parents’ evening which includes the opportunity to discuss possible options with your child’s teachers, and the opportunity to speak with Mr Penlington and Mrs Pettitt.
Options choices must be made by early February.
