This year we are completing a review of the pastoral care provided at Radnor.  As an opening exercise, we are asking all three stakeholders (staff, parents and pupils) to complete this questionnaire.

Useful Revision Tool - Alternative to Reading

Sometimes it's good to be able to hear information or to listen to how an essay should be structured. The resources cover all GCSE subjects.  It's well worth tracking them down.

The original website seems to have disappeared, but they are available on YouTube RevisionRocks - YouTube and CD's can be bought on Amazon.  There is also a Revision Rocks Facebook page.

If you would like to know more, then please get in touch.

Reading for Pleasure this Christmas

As parents, one of the most important gifts we can give our children is the pleasure of reading.  It is important that we continue to be reading role models throughout our children's school lives, not just when they are learning to read.  Children and teenagers are never too old to be read to, or to share a good book with, or to talk about books with.  So, this Christmas we are asking families to share a good book together and to share the magic of reading with us.  Click here for more details.

Parents' Association - FoRH7

It was fantastic to see all the pupils and RH7 charities engaged in the Charities Assembly last week, where some key announcements were made:-

A huge congratulations to our first RH7 Community Choice charity which we are pleased to announce is ... Living On Bereavement!

This is an amazing local charity that supports bereaved children to discover ways to deal with their grief and adapt to the changes it may have brought to their lives.  We very much look forward to supporting and working closely with the charity over the coming year.

And a  'big up' to Newton House for winning the House Charities Shield for 2019/20 via their outstanding FUNdraising efforts - well done!

Our Christmas Appeal got off to a fabulous start on Saturday night with families donating during the Xmas Panto Quiz, over £1400 was raised!  Thank you to everyone who donated and participated to make it such a fun evening.

The Appeal will continue to run until the end of term and the money raised will help support all 6 of our school charities during very difficult times for them:- Project Le Monde, supporting our sister school in Namakoko Uganda, Living On (see above), and our four house charities - Leonard Cheshire at Chipstead Lakes, (Pankhurstl),  West Kent Mind, (Newton), Bradbourne RDA (Churchill), and Foal Farm Animal Rescue (Nightingale).

We appreciate that this is not an easy time for anyone, but if you are able to support our wonderful charities please donate here.  Please also feel free to share the link with your wider family and friends.

Looking for Xmas present ideas or a way of capturing the special moments of 2020 in a photobook?  Up until Christmas, we are linking up with local company Pocket Memories who are donating £1 per book purchased to FoRH7.  Great for gifts & stocking fillers the books are of excellent quality and start from as little as £3.99.

Virtual Cooking Classes

Local Mum and chef Pip Porter from the Cooking Apple is offering online cookery classes for the Radnor community.  Perhaps this might be an alternative to Christmas drinks, where together you can prepare a Scandi Christmas meal or book a more relaxed class to make a beautiful dessert or cake.  Prices are £22.50 each for larger groups or £40 for a smaller group with more individual tuition (the price includes a £5.00 donation to FoRH7).  You can have a chat with Pip to find out more, just mention that you’re from Radnor House School.  All details can be found here.

With Xmas shopping now in full swing, it's great to see more parents are signing up for this win-win scheme.  It literally takes just a minute to sign up by clicking here.

Amazon Smile

We are now also registered to receive donations, (0.5% of the net purchase price), from eligible purchases as you shop via Amazon UK.  It's easy to start donating by clicking here and selecting Friends of Radnor House Sevenoaks as your chosen beneficiary.
