Remembrance Service – Wednesday 11 November 2020

On Wednesday we will be holding a socially distanced Remembrance Service outside for first the Pre and then the Senior School.  Sadly, we will not be able to invite parents to attend.

Unfortunately, we have been unable to sell Poppies at school this year and we would ask that if possible you purchase a poppy for your child/ren before Wednesday’s service.  These are available to purchase at most supermarkets and online.

As the service is to be held outside, please ensure that your child/ren attend school wearing a suitable warm and waterproof coat or jacket.

Awards in Celebration Assembly

Congratulations to the prep children whose achievements we celebrated in our Celebration assembly on Monday.  Please click here for the full list of awards given.

If your child has achieved something exciting outside of school in a club or activity that they participate in, please invite them to share it with the Prep School during our weekly Celebration Assembly on Mondays by sending any information to Dr Margrett: emargrett@radnor-sevenoaks.org.

Arrival of Pupils in the Morning

Please can we remind parents that children should not arrive at school until 8am unless they are booked into Breakfast Club.  We do not want the children to be congregating in groups outside of the Prep School where they risk compromising bubbles.  Teachers are not officially on duty until 8am, so if your child arrives before that time they will not supervised.

Absence from Sport

If your child is not able to participate in sport whilst in school please email sport@radnor-sevenoaks.org with details.

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part in the Pumpkin Carving competition.

Reading for Pleasure and Podcasts

As we know, audio books are a great way to share books as a whole family and to encourage reading for pleasure, but did you know that podcasts are similarly effective?  New research from The National Literacy Trust, please click here, found that more children and young people listened to podcasts during lockdown than ever before and this led to greater reading engagement, particularly for boys and secondary aged pupils.  Click here for recommendations and tips on how to share Podcasts and encourage reading with your family.

Clothes Collection

Some of our year 12's are putting together a clothes collection for Uganda.  It would be much appreciated for any old clothes and/or shoes to be donated for those in need.  There will be a box under the bus stop in the main car park from 8-8:20am and 4-4:20pm on both Tuesday’s and Thursday’s.  We also ask for the clothes and shoes to be donated in plastic bags, labelled with the name and year of the child.  Any further donations for the shipping cost would also be welcomed!

Thank you!

Flu Immunisation - Wednesday 25 November 2020

Please may we ask parents of pupils from Reception-Year 6 to register your consent/non-consent for your child/ren to take part in the up-coming flu immunisation programme, via the link within the NHS letter attached here.  Many thanks for your help in this matter - RH Medical Team.

Barvember

Barvember 2020 has officially begun and we cannot wait to start practising our bar models again! Every weekday throughout November, the children will receive a Barvember challenge, (which contains two questions), either on their OneNote, (for Years 3-6), or on Tapestry, (for Years R, 1 and 2).  The children will receive a dojo point for trying and if they get both of their questions correct, they will be entered into the weekly prize draw!  There is also a parent challenge to get stuck into! Please may we ask that all solutions are completed on OneNote or Tapestry as the children cannot bring in sheets of paper from home.  We would also love to see your solutions on our Twitter page so please post a photo of your Barvember solutions, (you may also wish to be in the photo), and tag @rh7prepmaths and @WhiteRoseMaths.  There will be one lucky prize winner each week for Twitter entries too!
