Health Declaration Form

If your child/ren are attending school because they are in Nursery and/or Transition or you are Key Workers, please complete the Health Declaration Form HERE and submit this by Sunday 7 February. 

Nursery Transition and Whole of Prep School Virtual Parents’ Evening – Tuesday 9 February and Thursday 11 February

The Virtual Parents evenings for Pre Prep and Upper Prep are to take place on Tuesday 9 February and Thursday 11 February via Teams. 

Pre Prep and Prep School parents will have the opportunity to meet for 10 minutes with your child’s class teacher.  For Upper Prep 5 minute meetings are available to meet with specialist teachers.  If your child is in the Pre Prep and you would like to meet with a specialist teacher, please email and the office will check availability for you once spaces have been filled by the Upper Prep.  Dr Margrett, Ms Greene and Mr Woodward will also all be available to meet with you if you have any matters you wish to address with them.  Please make your online bookings by clicking on this link

Mr Richard Stewart will not be available during these consultations as he is meeting with Year 11 Parents on the same evenings.  He will be able to meet with the parents of 6V on Tuesday 23 February.  If you would like to book to meet with him, please use this link

Behaviours for Learning Update

We will be sending out your child's behaviour for learning report on Wednesday 10 February. This will be a full report including all subjects as children in years 3-6 are receiving live teaching across all subjects.  In order for your child to receive grades in all subjects, teachers will be taking attendance at the beginning of each session.  If a child has not attended enough sessions to be graded, then they will receive an 'Abs' (Absent) in place of a grade. Please do inform teachers if your child is unable to attend a particular session. 

Co-Curricular Review-Questionnaire

Following on from the start of the Pastoral Review, the school is launching the first questionnaire for the Co-Curricular Review.  This is a brief questionnaire that focuses on the questions which we will be answering in the review.  It will only take a few minutes to respond.  This is designed to get a basic 'feel' for how the three key stakeholders (staff, pupils and parents) are feeling about the co-curricular programme as it stands.  Please answer with reference to our usual Co-Curricular programme and not the provision during the school lockdown periods.  Click here for the Microsoft Form.

Awards in Celebration Assembly

Congratulations to the prep children whose achievements we celebrated in our Celebration assembly on Monday.  Please click here for the full list of awards given.

If your child has achieved something exciting outside of school in a club or activity that they participate in, please invite them to share it with the Prep School during our weekly Celebration Assembly on Mondays by sending any information to Dr Margrett:

Mental Health Week 

This week Prep and Senior pupils are taking part in mental health lessons and assemblies. 

The Senior pupils are also continuing their drop-in sessions and Prep pupils are also being offered well-being sessions through the week.

Attached here is a list of websites and apps that are helpful for managing mental health. 

We encourage you to get in touch with your tutor, class teacher, or member of the leadership team if you need to talk about yourself, your families, or your children.  We are all here to help and get through this together. 

Poetry Competition

Foal Farm, in Biggin Hill looks after over 300 animals, including dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, sheep, and donkeys.  It takes in sick, distressed, and unwanted animals, nurses them back to health, and sometimes finds them a new happy home.  Looking after 300 animals is expensive, they need food, toys, exercise, and medicine.  That’s where YOU can help!

We are running an animal themed poetry competition, for everyone from Reception to Year 6.  Perhaps you want to write about your own pet or sponsored animal?  Or maybe you would like to describe an endangered species that you’re interested in, or even a mythical creature from your imagination - the more creative the better!

Submit your entry by FRIDAY 5 FEBRUARY.  There are no rules or word limits, but your poem must be animal themed.  Save your work into: ‘Whole School Prep’ Team/ 'Neve Foal Farm Poetry Competition Channel'/ ‘files’

The competition will be judged by Mr Veness, Head of English, and Neve Beesley (House Captain, Nightingale).  There will be lots of Dojos awarded for entries and the winners will be published on the Foal Farm website!

China Day

On Friday 12 February, Year 5 are having a remote learning China Day to celebrate the Chinese New Year.  We have planned a range of activities throughout the day for the children to experience lots of Chinese customs.  To help celebrate this day, it would be wonderful if the children could dress up in as much red as possible or wear an outfit that celebrates Chinese culture.

In order to take part in the activities, we would be very grateful if the children could have the following resources available on the day:

  • Ingredients for cooking Chinese noodles: noodles, carrots, pepper, soy sauce (or other vegetables or meats that you enjoy)
  • a bar of soap
  • a pencil
  • a potato peeler
  • white or coloured paper (red would be a good colour for Chinese New Year!)
  • coloured pens and pencils
  • The following ingredients for an optional salt dough modelling activity (or playdough could be used): flour; salt; vegetable oil; mixing bowl and spoon; baking tray and greaseproof paper; paperclips; matchsticks; acrylic paint and paint brushes.

We cannot wait to have a fun fulfilled China Day!

A big thank you goes out to all of the pupils taking part in fundraising for the house charities; the poetry competition, the music and singing, or the age-athon - all fantastic stuff ! The Silliest Quiz of 2021 -  Saturday 6 February @ 6pm 

We could all do with a good laugh right now, and we know just the man to help us!  Silly Billy comes back again for lockdown quiz number 3 this Saturday night from 6 pm-7.30 pm, latest. 

Please wear anything silly to get into the mood.  As always there will be serious house points to be won, and a beautiful Charlie Mackesy framed print for the winning family.

Charity News 

After the news last week of an early payment of £1000 to each of our charities, we have more words of thanks to share:

Project Le Monde – Moses, Headmaster of Radnor House Namakoko

On Behalf of the school and community of Radnor House Namakoko receive our greetings and appreciation for the funds and all the support you give to us. May God bless you. Thank you so much for that generous heart you have shown us since 2011 when the school started. We have been able to get a number of things with the support from Radnor House since 2011, including a classroom block, watchman house, toilets, kitchen house and we have made a market garden. All these achievements have been possible because of your support. We continue to face challenges and in the future we hope to build bigger classrooms and improve our hygiene facilities, especially for our girls. Thank you Radnor House School Sevenoaks!

Living On – Karen Chapman, Family Support Worker

Our sincerest thanks and gratitude to the Friends of Radnor House for the donation of £1000 to Living On.  The charity continues to face difficult times during the Covid-19 pandemic while continuing to receive an ever increasing number of referrals.  With schools closed and supporting children remotely, we are thrilled your donation will be used immediately, such as for resources for our upcoming online bereavement groups. It is wonderful to have the support of Radnor House School.
