MS Teams – 365 & Chat Function for Pupils over the Summer

Please be aware that the Microsoft Teams Private Chat Function will be locked at the end of term for ALL pupils, and will not be re-enabled until September.  If your child/children have used MS Teams chat as a main method of contact with their peers during lockdown please make them aware of this change and have a conversation to establish other methods of communication with their friends.  In addition, Years 6, 7 and 8 will not have access to their 365 accounts over the summer as IT will be preparing their accounts and Surface devices ready for September.

Digital Safety Update

Online gaming can offer many positive experiences.  It can give children and young people the chance to escape into a virtual world, to learn, and to connect with others.  However, there is a risk of children and young people viewing inappropriate content in games and being contacted by adults seeking to exploit them.  Please click here to read the latest RH7 Digital Safety Update, focusing on online gaming.

It's incredible to think that this is our final Friends update for this school year, and what an incredible year it has been, not always for the right reasons!

Through everyone's involvement and participation in events, fundraising and other volunteering initiatives such as MaDD and supporting the school shop, our parents, staff and children have raised an incredible sum of money for our school charities, final sum to be announced, and have had a jolly good time in the process. Thank you so much, and we look forward to more opportunities to get together next year.

More News from our Charities:

West Kent Mind – Newton

Whilst West Kent Mind had to suspend face-to-face work with their clients in March, they continue to offer support online and by telephone.  Like many charities, they are facing huge challenges when it comes to funding, and our fundraising support is enabling them to continue to support those in crisis, and those needing support and companionship from their peers.  It will take some time before we see the full impact of coronavirus on mental health, WKM will be ready to offer further frontline support.  They give their heartfelt thanks to Radnor School for our continued support.

Foal Farm - Nightingale

Foal Farm remains shut to the general public due to lockdown restrictions.  They have two teams of brilliant volunteers that run in two shifts to take care of around 300 animals.  They have taken a massive funding hit due to the cancellation of their summer events and closure of their charity, a loss of c£30,000.  Instead they have run an on-line dog and cat show, a selfie competition, plus a 24 hour walkathon.  Volunteers have been dropping off food for free to feed the animals.  There is more information on their social media and website, including info on their homing service, which has benefited from more people being at home.

On-Line Silent Auction - £2,577 Profit Raised!

Thank you to everyone who donated items and bid for lots, all helping to create a successful event and raise this impressive amount.  A particular thanks to Wieb Vuursteen who masterminded the event in the absence of the Summer Ball, and to Louise and Hannah for supporting the communications effort.  The delivery of items to winning bidders is well underway.
