School Uniform for Pupils upon return to RH7 on 8 March 2021

On the return to school, Pupils will be required to wear the same uniform as they did prior to the current lockdown.  More information will be provided to all parents in further communications from the school prior to children returning on the 8 March.  However, we are able to confirm the following:

    • School shoes will not be a requirement and trainers can be worn daily
    • Normal school uniform without ties should be worn when pupils do not have a day of sport
    • For sport days (including any after school sport clubs) pupils should attend school wearing their sports kit
    • On Forest School days younger pupils should wear their Forest School uniform.

If you do need to purchase items of uniform from Horncastles, please see the message from them below:

    Message from Horncastles

We have been operating an online service since lockdown started, and have been processing all orders within a day or two, either with hand deliveries or via the post. That will continue whilst we are closed under the government restrictions.

However given that the 8th March has been announced, we will be operating an additional “click/collect” service starting from this Saturday (27th Feb) and running all of next week.

Collections will be available from 10am to 2pm each day, but we must stress this is not us “opening” so customers will be able to collect orders, but they will not be allowed in the store to shop. We will be able to exchange items if required, but again it will be done on the doorstep not in store. There will be no changing facilities or trying on of items.

Depending on how popular and useful this is, we may extend that into the following weeks in March, but that is not confirmed yet, we will put additional dates on our website if we feel it would be possible.

The Click/collect option for online orders will be activated by the end of tomorrow, but Saturday 27th 10am – 2pm will be the first day of it being ready to collect.

The latest government advice is that shops will not be allowed to reopen until 12th April, we would certainly plan to open as soon as we can, but again it is subject to any further government restrictions.

    Co-Curricular Review - Parental Questionnaire

Thank you to those parents who have taken the time to complete the Co-Curricular Initial Questionnaire.  Please find this attached here once again to give others the opportunity to respond.  This is designed to get a basic 'feel' for how the three key stakeholders (staff, pupils and parents) are feeling about the Co-Curricular Programme as it stands.  Please answer with reference to our usual Co-Curricular Programme and not the provision during the school lockdown periods.

    National Careers Week

To enable us to assist pupils in Years 10, 11 and 12 develop their awareness of future careers, every year for ‘National Careers Week’ which commences on the 1 March, we hold a ‘Careers Network Evening’ in school which offers pupils the opportunity to meet with parents who share insight into their current or past careers, what they entail and how they achieved their career goals.

These evenings are so valuable as we know that developing a career can take many different paths and they are a great opportunity to show pupils some different methods on how to achieve a goal or to think about a career they might never have considered.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to hold this event in school this year, and instead, we would like to ask for parents' support to develop a new Careers Library where we can share information with pupils during Senior School careers assemblies.

If you are willing to participate and share your career path and knowledge of how you developed your career in your field, we would really appreciate your help as follows:

    • Please could you record yourself talking through your career, the opportunities, and obstacles it has thrown at you, and your achievements, which we can share with the pupils.
    • We would also appreciate your help in completing  this careers proforma form (which could also be used instead of a recording).

Once you have completed either or both of the above, or just the proforma form, please could you email these to ehanrott@radnor-sevenoaks.org by Monday 22 February so that we may use the information during ‘National Careers Week’.

Please be assured that any recordings and proformas will only be viewed by Radnor House staff and pupils and will not be shared with other parents.

Thank you in advance for your help and support with this development.  I know that it will be a very useful addition to our in-school career guidance this year and going forward.

    Audiobook - Request for Information

Do you have any stories or fascinating facts about Combe Bank?  Do you know its history or the history of the people who own it and lived in it?  Maybe it’s a tale linked to someone who worked there or who visited.  Perhaps your information is about the building itself or the grounds, including the lake and the stable block where the prep is now located.  No matter how minute a detail, we want to know about it!

Friends are creating an audiobook that will be filled with these stories and more, so no matter what the story might be, please send it to friends@radnor-sevenoaks.org.

    Match Fundraising

Does your organisation offer match funding, where any money raised by you could be matched by your employer?  Or perhaps you work for an independent company that may be interested in charitable giving through match funding?  We are keen to hear from anyone who might be able to help us maximise the amount we raise for our charities.  Contact us at  friends@radnor-sevenoaks.org
