Anti-Bullying Week 2020 Monday 16 November - Friday 20 November "United Against Bullying"
Every November schools throughout the United Kingdom take part in Anti-Bullying Week. This is an opportunity to shine a spotlight on bullying and consider the steps we can take together to stop it. At Radnor House we will be holding anti-bullying assemblies and following up with activities in class.
As a parent or carer, you are a vital piece of the puzzle in tackling bullying. You have a unique role to play in guiding and supporting your child through their school years and there are lots of positive steps you can take to help keep your child safe from bullying and harm. One of the steps is knowing when to ask for support. Radnor House Sevenoaks has an anti-bullying policy that can be found on our website here.
To support anti-bullying week, the Anti-Bullying Alliance and Kidscape have also put together a parent toolkit designed to give you information about bullying, tips about what to do if you’re worried about bullying and the tools to help you talk to your children about bullying, please click here to visit the site.
Odd Socks Day?
Odd Socks Day is part of Anti-Bullying Week! To celebrate that we are all unique, we ask that all pupils and staff wear odd socks to school on Monday 16 November. The day sends an important message that we should all be allowed to be ourselves free from bullying and helps us celebrate Anti-Bullying Week in a fun and positive way. If families wish to support the work of the Anti-Bullying Alliance by making a financial contribution, please follow the link here. There are a number of different ways that donations can be made, including via an online Virgin Money Giving site. Every penny goes to the Anti-Bullying Alliance to help continue all their work. Click here to read the Odd Socks Day flyer.

Sixth Form Parent Consultations – Week of November 17th
With our necessary move to online consultations, and understanding the challenge this involves for both parents and teachers sitting in front of a computer screen for long periods of time, we have made the decision to spread the consultations across four days (Tuesday 17 November – Friday 20 November).
With this change, comes a change of platform on which to book your times with the teachers. It can be found at this link.
For this event, we are using MS Bookings, which comes with many benefits, such as automatically creating events in a calendar linked with your email address, and sending you individual links for each meeting via email which, when clicked, will automatically place you in a waiting room on MS Teams with the appropriate teacher. You will not need to connect via you child’s account. It also allows us to create specific schedules of availability for each individual teacher across the four days (something not possible with the previous platform).
Unfortunately, while almost perfect, this system does require you to do the following when booking:
- Fill in your name, and email for each booking (i.e. with each teacher), although it should autofill after the first one
- Keep an eye on the times at which you are booking – while it will let you know if a teacher is booked at that time, it won’t tell you if you yourself have a clash
Of course, if you do have any questions, please do contact our IT Dept - IT@radnor-sevenoaks.org
Virtual Carol Service
As we are unable to meet in the traditional way for our carol service this year we are planning to prepare a virtual carol service that you can enjoy at home. Most of the recording will take place in small groups at school, (subject to strict social distancing and adherence of the guidelines), but we would like to include one whole school carol in a video collage.
All students in years 7-13 will find instructions and guide tracks for how to practice and record their contribution to O Come All Ye Faithful in the Whole School Team, Carol Service 2020 channel. Pupils may need some technical support, and we are very grateful to all parents who are able to help with this. Deadline for submissions is Monday 23 November 2020.
