Sport in the Senior School

Pupils in the senior school receive a wide range of sporting opportunities through their PE lessons, swimming lessons, games lessons and the school co-curricular programme.  

During PE lessons, pupils follow a wide ranging curriculum that includes activates such as: fitness training, badminton, basketball, ultimate Frisbee, table tennis, tennis and athletics. This provides our pupils with skills and knowledge to keep a healthy active lifestyle away our focus teams sports. Pupils in years 7 and 8 receive one PE lesson per week.  

Swimming is one of the schools focus sports and lessons are provided weekly in years 7 and 8 with the more able swimmers in these years and above joining the schools swim squad.  

The schools focus team games are hockey, football and cricket which are played during games lessons and in the schools pre-season programme. Pupils in years 7-10 receive two double games lessons per week. In years 11-13, pupils receive one double games lesson per week.

In addition to curriculum lessons, sports are offered through the schools excellent co-curricular programme. Most notably, these include netball, rugby and basketball which have weekly training sessions or matches throughout the Autumn and Spring terms. Note the school enters all major competitions in these sports and some fixtures and tournaments will take place during the school day or games lessons.
