Information Sharing with the NHS

From time to time the NHS ask the school for information; ie student name, address, date of birth and phone number, in order for them to contact parents directly to ascertain consent/non-consent for upcoming immunisation's taking place in school.  If you are not happy for this information to be shared with the NHS, please may we ask you to complete the form here.  This is an opt out option, if we do not have a response from you by the end of Friday 26 June 2020, we will presume you are happy for us to share this information with the NHS going forward.  Many thanks for your help in this matter.  medical@radnor-sevenoaks.org

In times like these it's great that we have an active Friends Association that gives all of us parents and the school staff the opportunity to get involved in and enjoy the wider life of school and the local community, (all parents and staff automatically become Friends when they join the school).  Over the last term it's been really wonderful to witness how the various organised events and activities have helped to keep us together and the children engaged, whilst at the same time supporting our charities.  A massive 'big up' to Mr Green and Miss Dale in particular who have been co-ordinating the various fun house activities!  With the end of the school year coming fast into view, here are some of the activities for us to enjoy together.

On-Line Silent Auction - Live until Sunday 28 June

It's been an encouraging start to the auction with bids beginning to come in and the bidding battles commencing!  Over £1,000 has been raised already for our charities.  If you haven't yet taken a look then do check it out here.

Most of the amazing experiences are valid until the end of 2021, and we have some super lots that have been donated by the school community including carriage riding, a cessna flight over Kent, family membership to Penshurst Place, computer health check, music, tennis or yoga lessons, and even a doorstop gig!  Personally, I'm battling it out for cocktails delivered to my door!  Please note there is no obligation to bid if you want to just take a look.

FUNdraising & Loose Change

The house FUNdraising activities just go from strength to strength.  This week our attention was grabbed by the Lockdown Hair house competition which unleashed some amazing creativity!  Any sponsorship money can be paid in very easily by using the following links below to our respective house Just Giving pages .

For any households in Prep school who have been collecting loose change this term, if you would like to get it off your hands then it can be cashed in at most banks, and you can then make a payment for the same amount via the links below.  Thank you!

Newton, Churchill, Nightingale, Pankhurst

Easyfundraising

We now have 33 supporters who have signed up - it's soooo easy!  We continue to chase the target of 50 sign ups by the summer break.  This is a free scheme which many of our most popular retailers participate in.  Join up here.

Friends Meeting - Wednesday 1 July at 7pm

Anyone who would like to attend this remote meeting and participate in discussions around future events and our charities are most welcome, the more the merrier!  Further details to follow.

Have a great week.

Stringbabies Event

The Music Department would like to invite you to an online Stringbabies event on Wednesday 24 June at 4pm.  Please log onto Year 2 Parents and Teacher on Teams.

At this time of year our Year 2 pupils would normally be giving a Stringbabies demonstration, giving us the opportunity to introduce the music department properly to parents and to discuss next steps for their musical development.  Although the concert is not possible we will be hosting an event for parents where you will have the opportunity to meet Mrs Lucy Jones, who leads our Stringbabies programme, Mr Paul Isom - Head of Performance and Prep Music, Mrs Gemma Fishwick - our Music Administrator and Dr Helen Isom who is the school's Director of Music.  They will explain what the children have already been learning and also how the curriculum will change next year by answering any questions that you may have about continuing with violin, or starting a new instrument.

We very much look forward to meeting you 'virtually' next Wednesday.

Year 5 News

Year 5 and 6 Remote Residential

Please find attached here information regarding next weeks' residential timetable and activities for those still learning at home.  If you have any questions, please get in touch with your child's class teacher.

Endangered Instrument Scheme

We are currently looking for students that are interested in learning either the trumpet or the tuba.  As these instruments are currently under-represented at Radnor Mr Valentine is offering 3 terms worth of lessons for the price of two, with the third terms bill wavered.  This offer is available for two students that want to learn the trumpet and two that want to learn the tuba.  Pupils should be Year 5 and above as of September 2020.

If you aren't sure what a trumpet looks or sounds like then please refer to the video here, it's the main featured instrument playing all the high notes.

If you aren't sure what a tuba looks or sounds like then please watch the video here, it's the really big brass instrument playing all the low notes which starts at 1:30.

Our brass teacher, Mr Valentine, is a very popular session musician and has performed with artists including Tom Fletcher (McFly), Jamie Cullum, Gregory Porter, Tinchy Stryder, Tinie Tempah, Liv Warfield (Prince), Marisha Wallace, Matt Cardle and was regularly playing in West End shows up until very recently.  This is an amazing opportunity to learn a brass instrument and there will be lots of performance opportunities to go alongside lessons at Radnor House.

If you are interested in learning the trumpet or tuba please email music@radnor-sevenoaks.org.

Year 5 and 6 Remote Residential

Please find attached here information regarding next weeks' residential timetable and activities for those still learning at home.  If you have any questions, please get in touch with your child's class teacher.

Information for children in school next week

Next week should have been our residential, but as we can’t go to the Isle of Wight we are bringing the activities to Radnor.  I would like to keep the activities a surprise, as they would be if we were away, so I will be telling the children each morning what we are doing.

Children can wear their own clothes next week, but please ensure they are appropriate for being outside all day.  We have said no spaghetti strap tops are allowed and no flip flops.  Children will be able to wear their Radnor Hoodie which will be given out on Thursday, but this would need to be washed each evening so children may prefer not to wear it everyday – perhaps just Monday and Friday for the coach journey!

We also need children to bring a few things on different days, but please don’t tell the children yet!

Monday - Small bag of popcorn

Thursday - 2-3 Marshmallows for roasting – Bubble 1 Tuesday, Bubble 2 Wednesday, Bubble 3

Friday (Top Secret) - Water Gun and Towel

Thank You

Miss McNeely
