    Whole School News

    Charities Assembly - Wednesday 6 November

    On Wednesday 6 November, we will have our annual whole school Charities Assembly, at which time we will present our donations to our House, National and International charities. We would ask that all pupils attend school on this day wearing their house tops. The rest of their attire should be school uniform.

    Remembrance Service - Monday 11 November

    We will be holding our annual Remembrance Service at the turning circle in front of the school at 10:45am on Monday 11 November. Parents are welcome to attend.

    Anti-Bullying Week

    Anti-Bullying Week is Monday 11 November - Friday 15 November. This year's theme is 'Change Starts With Us'  For your information our school's Anti-Bullying policy can be found here.  The Anti-Bullying Alliance have put together an information tool to help parents here.

    Free Trial of Safeguarding app

    SafeToNet are working as official supporters of the Anti-Bullying Alliance and Odd Socks Day this year.  From Monday 11 November they are providing their safeguarding online app free for 60 days.

    Odd Socks Day - Tuesday 12 November

    All students and staff are to wear odd socks for the day.

    Pumpkin Carving Competition  

    Please bring your carved pumpkins into school on the morning of the 8 November and place them on any of the grass areas at the top of the driveway outside the Senior School.  All candles must be bio-degradable and if you do not have any of these, Friends will be selling them on the morning for 20p each.  Mr Halliwell will be judging for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes and the winner will be announced after the fireworks display. 

    Intensive Touch Typing courses for Half Term and Christmas Holiday

    Sponsored Read for Good!  Monday 11 November - Friday 18 November

    Pupils will be asking family and friends to sponsor them for reading during the week at home and at school.  Sponsorship cards will be handed out after half term and money collected the week after (or online).  Read for Good provides a regular supply of brand new books along with storyteller visits to brighten up the days of children in all of the UK’s main children’s hospitals.  Please help us by making sure that your child has something to read.

    Additional Maths Clubs

    Please note that there will be two additional Maths Clubs starting after half term with Mr Knell.  Please sign up on SOCS if you are interested

    Save the Date - Saturday 25 January 2020 - Burns Night Event

    David Paton will be hosting a Burns Night on the above date.  Further information will follow in the next school Bulletin.  We very much hope that you will be able to join us for this traditional and fun evening of dancing, food and of course whiskey!

    Year 7 News

     

    Supporting your Year 7 Child in Maths - Monday 11 November 8.45 – 9.30am.

    This is an opportunity to meet with Mr John Barlow, Head of Mathematics, who will explain the Year 7 curriculum, expectations of the pupils, and the current methodology. Information about setting will also be provided. This presentation will take place in Mr Barlow’s classroom from 8.45 to 9.30am on Monday 11 November. Parents should proceed to the café after drop- off and must sign in at Reception. Please click on the attached form to indicate your attendance.

    Boys to arrive with house t-shirt, as well as games kit, as the House Cross Country will run during that afternoon.  Following the House Cross Country, there will be a shortened games lesson so boys must ensure they have their football/rugby boots, games kit and a mouth guard.

    Rugby Year 9-10 Boys 

    After half term, we will be playing a series of rugby matches, so please can parents ensure boys arrive for games lessons/practices with a fitted mouth guard.

    Year 11 News

     

    Sixth Form Open Evening

    Many thanks to all Year 11 Parents for attending the Sixth Form Open Evening.  Following on from this event we are holding our Sixth Form Taster Day on Thursday 28 November.  We will send out the subject choices for this day after half-term.  In the meantime, Mr Penlington and I are holding meetings with parents and pupils to help discuss Sixth Form options.  If you have not arranged one of these yet please email us and we will organise a meeting with you.

    November Assessments

    These will take place in lessons during the period 11-27 November.  Individual subject teachers will make the date of each assessment clear on ShowMyHomework along with explicit information about the revision your son/daughter needs to do.

    Year 11 Silver DofE Expedition

    The proposed Silver Expeditions dates for those pupils currently in Year 11 are detailed below.  These dates have been chosen to avoid proximity to GCSE Examinations.  Please check the dates and contact Mr Kemp to confirm that these dates are acceptable or to ask any questions.

    Practice Expedition: 7 February (after school) - 9 February (Indoor accommodation)

    Assessed Expedition: 27 - 29 June (Camping)

    Parent Volunteers are needed for Fireworks night – If you are able to help on the night, please click here to sign up.

    Quiz Night Spring 2020 - We are looking for volunteers to organise and run our annual Quiz Night.  If you would be willing to assist please email Liz Baker at friends@radnor-sevenoaks.org. 

    School Charities - We are pleased to announce that an amazing £20,216 was raised for our school charities during the school year 2018/19.  A huge 'Thank You' to everyone who has helped to achieve this!
