Physical Education

Radnor House Sevenoaks believes in fostering an enjoyment of all sports in students and improving strength, speed, mobility and stamina through participation in a range of activities.

Aims to:

  • Provide an enjoyable, satisfying, balanced curriculum
  • Foster an enjoyment of all sports 
  • Improve strength, speed, mobility and stamina through a range of activities
  • Ensure that all pupils are given opportunities to develop to their full physical potential
  • Develop awareness of the value of physical activity in its relationship to a healthy lifestyle
  • Encourage co-operation, tolerance and respect in competitive and learning situations
  • Develop confidence and self-esteem in appreciating own and others strengths and weaknesses
  • Provide an awareness of local sporting opportunities 
  • Develop knowledge and understanding and applying safety procedures in a variety of activities

Key Stage 4 & 5

Rotation of activities:

  • Games: Hockey, football, rugby, netball, cricket
  • PE: Badminton, fitness, athletics, tennis. Opportunity to compete in fixtures against other schools.

 Squad training:

We provide the opportunity for pupils to be selected to represent the school in the following teams: Football, Rugby, Netball, Swimming, Hockey, Cross Country, Athletics, Rounders & Cricket, Tennis.  Fixtures go on throughout the year against local schools. 
We also enter the Kent Netball Tournaments, Junior & Senior Knole Run’s, and the IAPS & Kent Schools Athletics Competitions.
 
Co-curricular Clubs:
We offer further co-curricular sporting activities including: Trampolining, Badminton, Basketball, Fitness and Taekwondo. Co-curricular activities are reviewed each term.

 Additional Professional Coaching

Our aim is to enhance the curriculum and ensure pupils have an opportunity to achieve the highest standard possible in their chosen activities and provide a direct link into local sporting clubs. Through the co curricular programme we offer a range of opportunities for pupils to experiences professional coaching in a variety of activities

 Other Events/Competitions:

  • Annual Inter-House Competitions include: Netball, Cross Country, Hockey, Football, Swimming and Athletics
  • School championships in: Tennis – singles and doubles
  • Sports dinner- Celebration of pupils sporting achievements

Written Paper

  • 1 hour 15 minutes written paper
  • 78 marks
  • Combination of multiple choice, short answer and extended writing questions

Applied anatomy and physiology, movement analysis, physical training and use of data

Component 2: 30%

Socio-cultural influences and well-being in physical activity and sport

Written Paper

  • 1 hour 15 minutes written paper
  • 78 marks
  • Combination of multiple choice, short answer and extended writing questions

Sports psychology, socio-cultural influences, health, fitness and well-being and use of data

Component 3: 40%

Practical performance in physical activity and sport

NEA

Internal assessment, external moderation

  • 30% Practical assessment in 3 activities (x1 team, x1 individual and x1 of either)
  • 10% analysis and evaluation of performance
