Newt conservation during exciting new developments

As we start developing our sports pitches, we are taking every step to make sure the local wildlife will not be negatively impacted by it, including a population of Great Crested Newts!

We currently have a species called the Great Crested Newt in the vicinity of our new developments, so we have had an ecologist come to the school to help us make sure that it stays protected.

From the help of the ecologist, pupils and members of staff, the newts (and frogs!) are being moved from an area that will soon become the new football pitches and into a safe new pond.

We have been working very sensitively with the ecology of the area as it is very important to us that the native animals stay protected.
