A week for celebrating reading, music and sporting successes!

Reading Week

In our 'Drop Everything And Read' (READ) moments throughout the week, we saw students stopping their tracks in their lessons to pick up a book (even in the swimming pool!).

Author Rob Lloyd Jones visits Radnor House

We are loving hearing about being an author with Rob Lloyd Jones as part of our World Book Day celebrations! Rob Lloyd Jones has won the Royal Society Young People’s Book Prize, and his debut novel WILD BOY was named one of the five best of the year in the prestigious Branford Boase Award.

He gave talks to our pupils about what it is is like to be an author and how to write creative stories. After school he even stayed to talk to our pupils individually and sign books.

World Book Day

All of the Prep School (children and staff alike) dressed up spectacularly as their favourite book characters and decorated their classroom doors to look like the cover of a book they love or are covering in lessons. The Senior School joined the Prep School in decorating their doors and both competed in a competition to win 'The Best Door'. The winner of our World Book Day door competition was by Year 4.

Our catering team produced the most amazing food based on their favourite books, from Mr McGregors Garden to Mrs Twits wiggly worm spaghetti and Violet Beauregarde's popping Blueberry ice cream, which really brought the book characters to life and encouraged the pupils to try something new!

Drop Down Day

Our senior school had their annual Drop Down Down day on Monday which covered many relevant and important issues and topics that our students face. The students had workshops on mindfulness and mental health, sex education and also had First Aid training. We also had the pleasure of welcoming The Self Esteem Team in to lead some inspirational workshops.

Music

Many of our students, ages ranging from Pre-Prep to Senior, completed their ABRSM music theory and practical exams this week- every single one of them showing great courage with the examinations and an amazing amount of perseverance was seen long before.

Successes outside of school

Adam's Cross Country triumph

Year 10 pupil Adam and his team excelled in the English National Cross Country Championships, coming in an impressive 2nd Place. Well done Adam!

Go Karting excellence for Year 2 pupil

Despite only turning 7 recently, Year 2 pupil Max competed in the 8-13 year old category of the opening round of the Shenington Go Karting Championship and came 3rd!
