Sporting Superstars: Week 21

Welcome to a bumper edition of our sports newsletter, featuring all the highlights from the Summer Term so far.

The unseasonably soggy weather resulted in an unprecedented number of fixture cancellations in May, but with the sun set to shine until Friday we’re hoping for a great week ahead!

Football

The U7 footballers kicked off the term with an appearance at the ISA Tournament. This was a great experience for our young footballers and they did themselves proud, winning 2 of their 4 matches.

The U11 football girls wrapped up a busy season with a trip to the ISA and ISFA tournaments. At both events our girls demonstrated exceptional team work and really fought hard for their coach. The matches were all close affairs, with the girls recording a mixture of draws, losses and wins. It was a great end to the season with the Radnor House Girls’ Teams firmly on the map. Next year our girls will be coming back even fitter, stronger and more determined. Watch this space!

Athletics

The Lower School kicked off the athletics season with a trip to Farringtons. There were plenty of promising performances, including the boys triumph in the relay and Iona (200m) and Alastair (100m) winning on the track. Superstar of the day goes to Hendrick who won both the 200m and the High Jump (with a new school record of 1.5m!) Congratulations to all our athletes.

Cricket

In our first game of the season our young Prep teams did exceptionally well versus a strong Yardley Court. In the U8s the boys narrowly batted to victory but after a stewards enquiry the game ended in a draw. The U9s meanwhile lost narrowly by 9 runs. It was a great first game for both teams.

Special mention must also go to the U12A girls who travelled to Dunottar School for a cricket match on Friday. After a solid display, the girls came away with an impressive 280-233 victory.

Tennis

With the Tennis season now in full swing, our U13 boys were in action at the Kent Tennis Doubles tournament. Congratulations to Emerson and Will who played an exhausting 8 matches and walked away with 4 wins.
