Radnor Boys celebrate their achievements at ISA football tournament!

12th Apr 2018

Radnor House finished their first ISA National Football Tournament in competitive fashion as they secured a commendable 5th position out of over 200 teams.

It has been a fairy-tale finish to our first season in the competition, with our boys travelling to Leicester to compete in the National Finals. The finals were a culmination of the top 2 teams from every region in the country. Qualifying from the South London Division was in itself a great achievement, so competing against the top schools in the country was going to be a really good challenge.

With 28 teams attending, our Division D started with 7 teams and the Radnor boys equipped themselves very well. After an early loss to the Tournaments runners up, the team started to play some exciting football and we finished the group with 4 victories, 1 loss and 1 draw.

Finishing second in our group gave us the enviable task of playing the last 8 teams in the Cup Competition. In two leagues of 4, the Radnor Boys had finally come up against the strongest teams in the country. With a hard fought draw versus Gateway Prep and a very close defeat versus the overall champions, Radnor House finally ended their group in third place on goal difference. The overall winners of the Tournament were Lady Barn House and it ended a majestic Tournament for our young players.

A very proud Coach Mr Rock commented;

“It was a real team effort with all eight players being involved in at least nine games. The boys were excellent ambassadors for the school, earning many compliments and making many friends during the day. The team are proving to be a real force for the future. A very well done goes to the invincible team of, Matthew (captain), Joseph, Charlie, Ivan, Aarush, Preston, Emerson and Louis. A huge thanks must also go to the Radnor parents who supported the team gallantly throughout the finals".
